Good to Know
Set your point gap to the manufacturer’s spec—usually around 0.016 inches, but check your manual to be sure. A little dab of grease on the distributor cam keeps things running smooth, and make sure the condenser wire has a good, tight connection. If you’re replacing points that have been in there for years, take a look at the distributor advance springs while you’ve got it apart.
